# Pipeline Automation

> Customize your pipeline's phases and stages, give stages goals that run automatically, and see your deals on a map

The Deals page is more than a board. You can shape the pipeline to match how your team works, and give any stage a goal that Apers runs on its own whenever one of your deals lands there.

## Configure Your Pipeline

Click **Configure Pipeline** on the Deals page to open the pipeline editor.

* **Phases** group the stages (columns) of your pipeline, for example an "Acquisition" phase holding New, Screening, and In Review. Click **Add Phase** to create one, and rename it by editing its name.
* **Stages** live inside phases. Type a name in **Add stage** to create one, rename a stage in place, and use **Move to Phase** to put it in a different phase.
* **Order** follows the editor: drag phases and stages by their handles, or use the **Move Up** and **Move Down** buttons.

> [!NOTE]
>
> A stage that still has deals in it can't be deleted. Move or remove its deals first. Renaming a stage moves its deals and its goal along with it.

Your phases and stage order are your own view of the pipeline. Collaborators on a shared deal can arrange their pipelines differently.

## Stage Goals

A stage goal is a prompt that runs automatically when one of your deals enters that stage. It starts a new chat session on the deal and does the work for you: draft an IC memo when a deal reaches IC Review, build a first model when it moves to Screening, and so on.

**1. Open the stage's goal**

In **Configure Pipeline**, click **Set Goal** on a stage. You can also click the lightning icon on the stage's column header in Pipeline view.

**2. Write the goal**

Describe what Apers should do, the same way you'd write a chat message. For example: "Draft an IC memo for this deal."

**3. Choose whether to auto-approve**

**Auto-approve actions** is on by default, since nobody is watching when a goal runs. Turn it off if you want to approve each edit yourself.

**4. Save**

Click **Save**. To turn a goal off later, open it with **Edit Goal**, clear the text, and save.

### How goals run

* A goal runs on deals **you own**. On a shared deal, the deal owner's goal for that stage is the one that runs, and it uses the owner's credits.
* Each stage's goal runs automatically **at most once per deal**.
* Saving a goal doesn't run it on deals already sitting in that stage. Those deals show a **Run goal** strip on their card: click it to run the goal on that deal.
* While a goal works, the deal's card shows **Running** (or **Queued** while it waits to start), then **Ready** when it's done. Click the strip to open the chat.

> [!WARNING]
>
> Goals use credits just like a chat you start yourself.

## Map View

Switch to **Map** on the Deals page to see your deals plotted by address.

* The **On map** panel lists every deal that has an address. Check or uncheck deals to choose which ones appear, or use **Select all** and **Clear all**.
* Click a pin and choose **Open deal** to go to that deal.
* Deals without an address don't appear. Add a property address to a deal to plot it.
